100 FOTOBÄNDE documents one hundred different people turning the pages of the same photobook. Each page turn marks a temporal point, gradually transforming the act of reading into a shared temporal structure.
While György Ligeti's Poème Symphonique for 100 Metronomes is based on mechanically regulated rhythms and predetermined phase relationships, 100 FOTOBÄNDE returns rhythmic agency to the viewer. Every participant turns the pages at their own pace, allowing rhythm to emerge from individual perception rather than mechanical precision.
The work shifts the focus from the photographic image itself to the temporal structure generated through collective acts of viewing.
